In an increasingly globalised world, language skills are becoming more of a necessity in business than anything else. Language for business courses seem to be popping up like daisies wherever you look, and it can be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. Things like price, levels, language ranges, and types of courses offered all need to be considered. Luckily, there’s education tech companies like Capeesh who make things easy for you.

At the helm of Capeesh is CEO and co-founder Marie Jacobsen Lauvås. Kind and soft spoken, she exudes leadership qualities in a calm and understated way that could put anyone at ease. Working closely with her specialised team, she co-founded the company in 2017, and since then they’ve been making (sound) waves in the business world. They’re an eclectic team of linguists, game designers, and engineers who are passionate about putting the fun and functional back into language lessons.

Rather than offering a “one size fits all” language course, Capeesh tailors their programs to create a perfect fit for your business. Capeesh is essentially an AI language learning application that teaches users everything they need to know for their business, leaving no stone unturned. The program utilities immersive game designs to simulate industry related situations, ensuring the user that they get the most out of their learning. And it’s not just businesses that Capeesh covers – schools can also benefit from their language plans. It’s complex. It’s simple. It’s absolutely genius.

Entrepreneurship is a good look on Marie. Her resume boasts a series of enviable, senior positions that have stood her in good stead as she took the plunge and began to develop her own companies and ideas. In the past she’s been a project lead, a business developer, and Head of International Strategy. In 2012 she co-founded the e-learning platform, Brillefilm, of which she’s still a board member. And if that’s not enough for you, Marie was also an Entrepreneur in Residence for NTNU Technology Transfer AS because she’s just that good.

Marie’s creative and entrepreneurial vision has certainly paid off. Capeesh has only been in operation since 2017, but by 2018 it was already up for an award, winning an annual business talent prize in Trondheim. The accolade lauded Marie’s leadership qualities, ability to think outside the box and see the bigger picture, and business strategy.

Marie’s single minded focus, to which she applies to everything, has helped carve out a path in an exciting landscape that’s forever changing. It almost feels like there’s little left to conquer, but we know she’s going to surprise us anyway.
